VISITOR & READER COMMENTS

Hi Phil,

I have now finished the new book which is quite excellent, your depth of knowledge and research is absolutely fabulous and I have requested that our Secretary mentions the booklets in our next newsletter.

Stephen

Hi Phillip

I recently came across some of the short articles on the early history of Chester which have appeared in the Chronicle earlier this year.Has the information been published as a local history book or is the information available elsewhere?

Many thanx

Gordon

Dear Phillip

I have once again been reading your History Corner articles with interest (Civil War, Canals, Railways, WWI etc). I would very much like to receive the fuller versions. If you have put them together in a booklet for purchase, I would be happy to buy a copy. If not, could you e-mail them to me.

Many thanks

Liz

Hello Philip

Thanks for the latest issue of The Fortress.

I'm sure there is no need to acknowledge them each week when they come, but I just wanted to say how much I appereciated your comments in your e.mail of 4 March explaining how this study has come about.

You must have put a tremendous amount of work into it, and I certainly appreciate it. I have not read a history of Chester like this before and look forward each week to the next installment.

Thanks

Malcolm

Hello again Phil,

Thanks very much indeed for sending me your excellent articles. I've very much much enjoyed reading them and have learned a great deal from them. The final one particularly, as I myself have been struggling for some time to finish a piece describing the complex events between the departure of the Legions and the coming of the Normans- a stirring period that doesn't seen to get much attention sadly... I wondered- it would be a real shame if they were forgotten when the newspapers in which they appeared were disposed of. Would you like me to put them online as part of the Chester Virtual Stroll? Your name, of course, plus contact details, would appear at the head of each of them.. Let me know what you think. If you've got any illustrations you think may go well with the articles, that would be great too...

Cheers,

Steve

Dear Sir

I understand a fuller version of the interesting articles Part 1 and Part 2 - Titled "When military Governor Frontius founded fortress", are available by e mailing this address.

I would most grateful for same please

Regards

Don
