1. STRANGER IN OUR OWN LAND

Maybe you need to have been born in a particular era and be of a certain age to fully appreciate that full extent of the changes that have occurred in Britain over the past 50 years or so. Born in the late 1950's and being raised during the 1960's and the early part of the 70's gives you a whole different perspective on the Britain that we live in today and allows you to realise just how much of the character and behaviour of the nation has fundamentally changed during those 5 decades and not always for the better. 2. BULL TERRIER SEIZURES THE MYTHS CONTINUE

Although the recent death of the 5 year old toddler Ellie Lawrenson in Merseyside is a tragedy for her family, it still remains a mystery as to how a young child found herself alone with an unsupervised dog and what happened to make the animal turn on the girl. Neither do we know the history of the Bull Terrier itself and the sort of treatment it had received at the hands of its owner. The very fact that this individual had been warned about the behaviour of his dog by the local authorities is perhaps significant and suggests a problem with him as an owner, as much as it does about the dog itself. 3. MEDIOCRE MEDIA IN THE UK

Are we such a lot of unthinking automatons nowadays that we don’t warrant being challenged by this country’s broadcasters and publishers? You could be forgiven for thinking so, given the levels of complete and utter rubbish that gushes daily from our televisions and radios purporting to be new and informative. (CONTINUED)

4. DIRECT FROM THE BBC, A NEW LINE IN TAWDRY TABLOID JOURNALISM

No doubt along with hundreds of other Bull Terrier enthusiasts, I awaited last night’s “Panorama” program (Thursday 30th August 2007) with a mixture of both interest and trepidation, keen to see if the heavily trailed 17 month undercover investigation by this BBC flagship program into dog-fighting and the illegal sale of American Pit Bull Terriers to Britain would offer the viewing public and me anything new on the subject.  By the time this supposedly well researched and well documented broadcast had finished I had my answer, the extensive and no doubt expensive undercover investigation was little more than a re-hashing of the numerous myths, half-truths and general misinformation which has surrounded the APBT for the past 20 years and was an extremely poor way to spend an hour of my life. 5 PROFITING FROM CHESTER'S DIMINISHING HOUSING STOCKS

Although today Chester is primarily known as both a tourism and retail shopping centre, beyond its historic world famous Rows and its circuit of recreated city walls, along with numerous other British towns and cities it is desperately trying to cope with a growing local population and a declining public sector housing stock. 6. A VIEW OF MODERN BRITAIN, REAPING THE REWARDS OF POLITICAL FAILURE

Boy! What a fair old country we have become in 21st Century Britain. It must be deeply gratifying for all of the UK’s former and present political leaders to finally realise their ambitions of fundamentally changing a country’s national character, from public tolerance to simmering intolerance, from mutual moderation to personalised greed, from social concern to individual indifference and from widespread consensus to factional disagreement. What a legacy they have been able to leave current and future generations? (CONTINUED)
